Performance. Recovery. Longevity.

Amy Gendron, AP

Acupuncture Physician

Acupuncture is the practice of using, sterile, single-use needles to promote the flow of Qi throughout the body. Qi (pronounced “Chee”) is often referred to as ‘vital energy’ and flows through the meridians in the body. Disruption in the flow of Qi takes the body out of balance and leads to illness. Acupuncture and Oriental medicine help restore the flow of Qi improving health and vitality.

Acupuncture has been medically accepted throughout Asia for thousands of years. However, the practice is fairly new in the United States. With its rise in popularity, several studies have been conducted to understand how it works.

There are three mechanisms that account for a lot of the healing that occurs as the result of receiving acupuncture:

  • endorphin release that alleviates pain and promotes a sense of wellbeing

  • activating the immune system

  • reducing inflammation

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as an effective treatment of the following conditions as proven through modern controlled medical trails:

Headache,  Hay Fever / Allergies, Adverse reactions to Radiotherapy and/or Chemotherapy, Depression, Dysentery, Peptic Ulcers and Gastritis, Facial Pain, High Blood Pressure, Low Blood Pressure, Knee Pain, Low Back Pain, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Joint pain (knee, elbow, shoulder, neck, etc), Morning Sickness, and much more!

Meet Amy

Amy’s approach to healing empowers her patients to live with vitality, by integrating the best wellness and medical practices. She works as a specialty physician in several clinics and provides private client services.

Amy began her journey in holistic health as a personal trainer, mentored by a black belt martial artist. The approach required her to physically complete every training program she would teach clients. During that time, a neck injury that didn’t respond to pharmaceuticals, Amy turned to acupuncture. It resolved the neck pain and more!

In 2010, Amy began studying Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at the Florida College of Integrative Medicine. Beyond the curriculum she trained in:

Japanese Style Acupuncture and Moxibustion

Childbirth Doula (labor and delivery support)

Homeopathy and Vitamin Injection Therapy

Medical Intuition

Traveling to Yunnan China in 2013, Amy completed an externship with nationally renowned Dr. Shui. The externship focused on herbal medicine for women’s health and acupuncture treatment for facial paralysis.

As a leading physician at a thriving integrative practice Amy collaborated care plans with medical doctors, naturopathic, chiropractic, neurotherapist, nurses and supporting staff to address complex conditions (2013-2016). While on this team Amy was invited to attend the A4M conference where she learned cutting edge research “Energy in Medicine”. In addition Amy became certified in:

Advanced Injection Therapy

Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture

From 2016-2017, Amy expanded her practice in the realm of sports performance and recovery. Integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine with western herbs, infrared sauna, cryotherapy, ozone therapy, and halo salt therapy to address everything from overuse to traumatic brain injuries.

In 2018, Amy earned a certification in Philanthropic Leadership and created a volunteer role for acupuncturists at Shepherds Hope, a medical care facility for the underinsured, where she volunteers weekly.  She was one of the few American physicians invited to attend a Physiological Regulating Medicine program in Milan, Italy.

Beyond her medical practice Amy is a coach certified by USA field hockey. She is a former field hockey NCAA champion and still competes nationally.

Testimonials

“Amy is my acupuncturist physician of choice for my clients. Her emotional acuity is unparalleled. Amy helps her patients struggling with infertility, pregnancy complaints, preparation for labor, or issues postpartum to create balance and health within her mind, body, and spirit that is much needed in this journey that is motherhood. My clients all love being under her care. Her additional background in birth and women's health makes a huge difference in the results she achieves. She brings this skill set with her into the labor room as a  birth doula. Her patients truly can receive an incredible continuity of care like no other.”

“My experience of Amy? She's as dedicated and wholehearted a healer as you'll find! With a fine-tuned ear for perceiving the source of presenting symptoms, she goes to work to bring the body back into the balance—and gets the job done. I'm singing Amy's praises not only for the remarkable results I've experienced with her but because the way she works is resonant with the core of my own work with people. I highly recommend Amy to my clients and others in need, confident they'll be in good hands. We were fortunate to have her in the Roaring Fork Valley!”

“As an athlete, colleague and friend of Amy’s I have had the privilege of working with her on many levels of acupuncture treatment. Personally, when it comes to my injuries, pain, and inflammation, she is always able to help me recover. Injuries for athletes seem to come at the worst time and when I was nearly immobile, Amy’s magic touch is what how I got back to my peak performance. Her success in healing comes from her broad knowledge, experience and genuine care for her patients. My trust in Amy goes far beyond my own care… my friends, family, and patients have all had successful acupuncture experiences and I know that is because Amy is the one treating them.”
